Bought this Samsung Netbook specifically for travelling through Europe and UK. It picks up wifi wherever I am and will be handy for emails, hotel pre booking and maps while en-route. Did need additional RAM which was cheap and easy to install even for non-tech people I used Amazon because of the guaranteed delivery in the time span I needed whilst in UK, had a few problems with that which were fixed quickly. Did try to order accessories at the same time but the delivery was too long. It is nearly impossible to phone Amazon but when you do get through they do endeavour to assist you and are pleasant and efficient. Well after reading all the reviews I decided to settle on the Galaxy note eventually after much debate between this and the iphone... I bought it in early February and got it shipped to the UK as it was cheaper buying here in Euros than getting it on Amazon.co.uk. I've been using it extensively for the last 2 months. Other reviewers have made plenty of comments on the various features so i will try and keep that in summary form. I always want to know what's bad about a product when I buy it so I've focused more on mentioning the bad. However despite some of its shortcomings it is still the best phone I've ever used - the good outweighs the bad by miles.
I must say that I travel between two coutries a lot and in my home country (Sri Lanka) I use this purely as a tablet with a sim that is only active for data. The other half of my time (I spend around 10 days every month in Bangladesh) I use this as my local mobile phone for calls and internet/email. However I donlt get that many calls on this when in Bangladesh compared to my regular phone.
Please note that unless specified otherwise I am using all the `stock' programs for things like email that came with the Note.
Firstly, what's great about it: 1. Screen - excellent - the perfect size for reading emails, web browsing and especially great if you use it to read work related attachments such as spreadsheets because the screen size menas you have less scrolling around to do and the text is crisp and clear. I honestly cannot see and difference in resolution on this compared to the iphone's retina display although 'technically' the retina display has a higher resolution. If anyone can actually tell the difference i@d probably be willing to bet a lot of money that to the naked eye the difference is inconceivable. In terms of colours i think the colours on the note are actually brighter and more vivid.. but i might just be a bit biased here 2. Watching Videos - Simply Awesome resolution and vibrancy etc. I've got a few HD videos which I've watched on it and it is awesome 3. Wi-fi hotspot - Just love the fact that I can share the data connection 4. Kies Air - Samsung's excellent tool that allows you to transfer anything on to your phone form any laptop over the air (without the need for any cables). 5. The Visidon Application (free) - this app uses your fornt camera to allow you to selectively lock certain apps using face recognition. Yes, I too was sceptical and thought that it would take a long time to recognise your face. However in bright light it takes less than half a second to do the facial recognition. It is a problem in low light but it has a password override feature. Now I give my phone to friends with no qualms - safe in the knowledge that they can play around with it, browse the net, watch youtube videos.. but cannot go and put in silly Facebook updates on my behalf because I have locked access to the facebook app. Because it allows you to select which apps you want to lock it is great. Even settings and things like access to your photos and files can be locked in this way. A must have app!! 6. Contacts integration with FB and Gmail - works like a charm. I have phone numbers of people on FB and everything gets updates as long as they update their profile. It also logs activity of that person so you know what you've been doing with them. 7. Portability - it is excellent to have something that is equally good as any tablet that I've used always on you. It just fits in your pocket and stays with you. Simply great!
Neutral: 1. Phone size - donlt believe anyone who says its too big. I've got just a 32 inch waist, am 5'10" tall and weigh 68kg... so not a big person and the phone fits perfectly well in all the trouser/jean pockets that I've worn. ZERO discomfort. Once you've got used to the screen size on this baby you simply cannot go back to a smaller screen. 2. Camera quality - is excellent in low light but I found that the iphone's quality is better. Not a problem for me because I rarely use it for snapshots and when I want good pictures I use my dslr.. not my phone! Works great for scanning business cards and even paper/magazine articles and advertisements. 3. S-pen - I've used it a few times and was excited about the ability to just write down notes as opposed to carrying a book with me... but unfortunately it isn't that practical to do this. I have used this on occasion to take a photo and scribble on top of this photo (prices of things like floor tiles with an image when I was looking at refurbishing the house). Overall not used as much as I thought I would - I am not into sketching at all!! 4. Siri-like voice assistance - not really used this much at all except when driving, but even that was occasionally only. Sorry, have to agree with everybody else: this is an amazing mobile. No, it doesn't run Ice Cream Sandwich (yet); doesn't matter. It's brilliant. Not least because it comes preloaded with all the apps you could reasonably need, including a full Office suite (Polaris - much better than I was expecting; even better than Documents To Go, in fact). I come from AppleLand - I have an iPad 2, I had an iPhone 3GS. The Samsung fits seamlessly into all of that - download a couple of (very nice) apps and you can synchronise easily with iTunes, photos, contacts, calendars and a whole raft of iOS favourites including e.g. Dropbox, SkyDrive, Evernote, OneNote (unexpected, but very welcome) and others - most of them for free. If you use text editors that synchronise through Dropbox you'll find plenty of nice equivalents on Android.
But that's just the environment. What you don't appreciate from the photos is the screen - amazing! Enormous, clear, and really rather beautiful. And the camera! All the settings you'd expect on a compact, plus Full HD video recording. And whatever people may say, the phone itself isn't ridiculously big: it's actually rather smaller than I thought it would be. Feels big in the hand, yes, especially after an iPhone. But looks great, and is really easy to use.
Ease of use: okay, not quite up to the standard of iOS. But the greater flexibility makes up for that, and it's not exactly difficult to use. Samsung provide some helpful user guides, and there's plenty more out there on the web. The fact that you're not limited to Apple's walled garden makes a huge difference. I thought I'd be moving gradually over to an all-Apple environment - but in fact I'm still happily running Windows, Android and (because it is lovely) an iPad 2. And enjoying all of it!
In short: total 100% recommend. Oh, did I mention the fantastic low-power setting? That hardly slows the phone down at all but doubles the battery life? Maybe I didn't mention the incredibly slick one-click controls for WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS etc. (no more fiddling with the multi-click iOS Settings app!)? Or the great Google search function that ransacks your entire phone for data? No, I'm not a great Google fan, but you can't deny they've got search down to a fine art. I've done a minimal amount of customisation, and I'm delighted (oh, and I hardly use my Amazon Kindle any more, either, because the Samsung does Kindle very nicely, and it's got a built-in backlight. Hm, maybe have to give the Kindle to my mother or something...).

Thought long and hard about getting this phone as I was thinking of getting the iphone4S and the ipad3. Once I had looked at what I needed a phone and tablet for it fitted the bill perfectly. The first trip to the local phone shops to see the phone my initial impressions were - this phone is far too big. I looked at all the reviews on the net and after a second trip to the shops decided I could live with its size (it still fits in your pocket). Purchased the white version from Amazon which is a bit more expensive but my wife agreed that this is the best colour.
If you do go for this phone be prepared as I was for comments such as "What is that", "that is a brick","Have you got a briefcase for that phone". I think we have been conditioned to believe that a phone should be a certain size, however having owned the phone for a few weeks now I can honestly say I could never go back to a small screen phone and think Samsung have got it right for the Note.

i ordered this last week because i really wanted something that i could use on the go, that wasn't my phone and i really like a keyboard, i wanted something nice and fast because i don't like waiting for things to load.
the set up was super simple, took just a few minutes and i was away. It comes with a 3gb 3g sim but i didnt find this until after i had gone out and signed up for a 12 month 3g mobile broadband sim with 3, though i get more data with this anyway so i will use the free sim when i get to the end of my allowance!
obviously, what you can do without the net is very limited, essentially making this a very expensive paperweight without the net, but when you have the net, it works like a dream.
to get from pressing the button to actually being online and your previous pages loaded realistically takes around 15 seconds, rather than 8/10 but that includes signing in, connecting to 3g and loading the pages that you were already on so i am very impressed with this. shutting it down takes literally 4 seconds, so this is really useful when you are out and about and only have a few minutes with which to do something.
one flaw i found in this is that i briefly disabled 3g and then found that i could not reenable it. i had to go into developer mode and delete local data in order to fix it, i hope updates will solve this as in seems very silly!
the machine has a nice screen, is fairly light and can fit into the handbag i usually take places with me so this really fits into my life.
I have no idea if these things will catch on, but for now i am very impressed and if it doesnt slow down as they say it won't, i will continue to be impressed by this.

I bought one of these primarily for attending meetings, making notes, light office work and email on the move.
It has been an excellent purchase as it is very light, quick and very portable. Battery life is around 6 hours and there are a lot of good programs on the store to enhance the usability, such as open office for google drive.
Out of the box its a little weak, but if you download 5 or so applications to enhance file support its excellent. All of which have been free so far.
It wouldnt replace a full windows system but its very useful when battery life and portability are needed. Screen quality is above average, although the viewing angles could be alittle better.
It also never gets more than lukewarm and starts almost immediately.
Recommended.

I bought this the other day, after I went and got a chromebox for my desktop needs. I am training to become a teacher. I have a macbook pro, but I am too afraid of moving this about all the time, damaging it, losing it or having it stolen - I just didn't want the risk. But I also had problems with macs in the past and I am now an avid fan of cloud storage and I have everything synced into dropbox and google drive. I also have used the chrome browser for over 3 years now and I love it! I hate safari. So when I saw these new chromebooks come out I had to go and inspect them myself. I got mine from currys though not online.
I gotta say I am really impressed with it. I stuck in my three broadband sim I had in a draw, topped it up and I can use the chromebook where ever I go now. One thing I really do love is that if you use google chrome as your main browser, it syncs everything automatically. It keeps everything up to date. This is something I really like, the seamless integration across my macbook, chromebook and now chromebox. Would it be able to replace an actual computer? Probably not no, but if you need something for internet browsing, writing documents etc... watching movies online then this is for you. It is lightweight, the battery is very good and it's stylish. And the OS gets periodic updates continuously making it more streamlined and overall a better experience.
Many people don't like something so different to what you have seen with Windows and Mac OSX, but I am a fan of change and I really do recommend this to anyone who doesn't need all them other components in a computer that they simply wont need or use which just makes the laptop expensive and prone to damage. Chromebooks in my opinion are a step in the right direction for the future of our technology needs. Well for mine anyway....
